Things you missed while you were in Fiji

Big Bro, Big Sis and The Godson recently went to Fiji for a week (living the hard life, obviously). In the short time that they were out of reach, A seemed to come along in leaps and bounds in terms of her developmental milestones. So much was happening and we were so incredibly blown away, and I realised that since they missed it then the next time they see her she'll seem so grown up. On the same token, that was a week of The Godson's life that I missed, and I no doubt have some catching up to do with regard to my little nugget's development as well.

No matter how many children I have, it will always astound me how much they can achieve in such a short span of time. Blink and you'll miss it. We need to soak up every second of these early days because growth like this only happens once, it really is a 'once in a lifetime' experience.

Therefore I've decided to capture the moments that Big Bro, Big Sis and The Godson missed, partly for their enjoyment but also for my own benefit, because it was a momentous week!

She cut her first tooth! We were impressed by how well she handled it, a little unsettled but nothing major. She really let me know about it when she decided to bite me while feeding. THREE TIMES. This was when I discovered...

Her temper! After the three bites, I sat her up and sternly told her 'No!' She paused, scrunched her face up, and burst into tears! It took me a minute or so to settle her. Unusual!

She got over her hunger strike and exhibited a love for self feeding...

Self feeding

She decided she no longer wants to be held in the shower, she wants to be with her brothers, it looks like much more fun down there!

She started to stand! And once she discovered she could do it, she wanted to do it EVERYWHERE.

Learning to stand

Weeks like this make me a little emotional because they remind me of the speed at which they grow.
They are babies for such a short time. But on the other hand, I'm over the moon that I get to witness these things because my return to work is fast approaching. My baby girl is making sure I get the most out of my maternity leave.
She's achieving things much faster than her brothers did.
I could put it down to the fact that females are the stronger sex, or that she's the third child and just learning from her siblings, or that she's just going to be an over-achiever, a bit like her Mumma

So that's what you missed. And because it's Tuesday I'm linking up with the hilarious Jess at Diary of a SAHM for IBOT

  8. They do grow up fast. I did find the more kids I had the earlier their milestones are. Like the last one (my 4th) she got teeth really early, crawled early, climbed everything. She is such a dare devil.

  9. I still can't get over how fast it's all going, she was only a newborn last week wasn't she? Watching her crawl around yesterday was magic, she's looking so grown up now. And did you know, A and Mia have the same PJ's!
